Die Stadt Bern wurde im Jahr 1191 gegr\u00fcndet. Bern erhielt seinen Namen aufgrund einer Legende. Diese Legende beschreibt einen gewissen Herzog Berthold, der gerne jagte und bei der Gr\u00fcndung der Stadt versprach, die Stadt nach dem ersten Tier zu benennen, das er bei der Jagd treffen w\u00fcrde. Das erste Tier, dem der Herzog auf der Jagd begegnete, war ein B\u00e4r. So erhielt die Stadt den Namen Bern, was auf Deutsch \u201eB\u00e4r\u201c bedeutet.<\/p>\n

Bern liegt auf einer Halbinsel, die auf drei Seiten von der Aare umsp\u00fclt wird. Diese Lage der Stadt war aus strategischer Sicht von Vorteil, vor allem bei der Verteidigung der Stadt. Viele Geb\u00e4ude des historischen Teils der Stadt Bern sind bis heute erhalten geblieben. Eines dieser Bauwerke ist das Berner M\u00fcnster. Der Bau der Kirche dauerte 472 Jahre, was einfach erstaunlich ist. Der Glockenturm des M\u00fcnsters ist der h\u00f6chste der Schweiz. Er ist 100 Meter hoch. Am Eingang des M\u00fcnsters befinden sich Statuen, die das J\u00fcngste Gericht der Menschen darstellen.<\/p>\n

Bern ist ber\u00fchmt f\u00fcr seinen Uhrturm namens Zytglogge, der zu Beginn des 13.ten<\/sup> <\/span>Jahrhunderts erbaut wurde. \u00dcbersetzt aus dem Deutschen bedeutet der Name des Turms \u201edie Glocke der Zeit\u201c. Die Uhr geh\u00f6rt zu den drei \u00e4ltesten Uhren in der Schweiz. Im Laufe seiner Geschichte hat dieser Uhrturm Ver\u00e4nderungen und Restaurierungen erfahren. Er ist 23 Meter hoch.<\/p>\n

Bern ist auch ber\u00fchmt f\u00fcr seine zahlreichen Brunnen, deren Anzahl mehr als hundert betr\u00e4gt. Diese Brunnen dienten der Versorgung der Bev\u00f6lkerung mit Wasser; es ist erstaunlich, dass sich ihr Verwendungszweck bis heute nicht ge\u00e4ndert hat.<\/p>\n

Im Stadtzentrum befindet sich ein Wassergraben mit einem kleinen Park namens Barengraben. Das ist der Ort, an dem die B\u00e4ren leben, die das Symbol der Stadt Bern sind. Au\u00dferdem gibt es einen B\u00e4renplatz, einen B\u00e4renpark und viele andere Orte, die das Symbol der Stadt ehren.<\/p>\n
