For tourists from all over the world, trips to the Thai capital, the eastern city with the mysterious name Bangkok, are considered very popular today. Today Bangkok is one of the most unusual and amazing capitals of Eastern countries. Bangkok, translated into Russian, means “city of angels”, this is how its residents call it with pride and love. The city is divided into two parts by the Chao Phraya River. The main part of the historical places, which are rich in ancient sights, is located on the island of Rattanakosin. Numerous monasteries and temples tell about the past of the city, which surprise with their originality and beauty. In the famous Wat Pho monastery, which is located here, you can see the famous statue of the Sleeping Buddha, which is distinguished by its large size -almost 15 meters in height and 46 meters in length. Not far from the statue, you can see the excellent Temple of the Emerald Buddha, which is considered the holiest place in all of Thailand. The temple is decorated with various colored frescoes, stained glass windows, gold and bronze ornaments and ceramics. Also in the historical center of the capital of Thailand, the Pantheon is installed, on its territory there are 8 statues of the kings of the Chakri dynasty, snakes and birds, which are mentioned in legends, and the entrance to the temple is guarded by demons with peaks. To visit this place there is a special dress code -for women it is long skirts, and for men trousers, and shoes must be with a closed heel. All this will remind you of being in a mysterious and fabulous place. There is also the Palace of Heaven, which will demonstrate the austerity of the Thai style to visitors. This palace is a working residence for meetings with important people and a venue for various official receptions. In the same areas there is the oldest library, which stores old manuscripts. Silom and Sukumvit are areas of Bangkok that are considered the modern center. It is in them that a huge number of shopping arcades and hypermarkets, all the offices of the largest companies, many high-rise buildings, embassies of different countries, hotels are located. all kinds of fabrics. The Chinese quarter is also famous. There are narrow streets and rather strong smells, a lot of Chinese food and a medicine center with instilled Chinese traditions, hotels and monasteries, brothels and markets, all this is located in a small piece of China. The floating market, which is located on the water, is very popular in Bangkok. Here you can buy a lot of cheap clothes, a lot of souvenirs and copies of antiques. And the most popular souvenirs among tourists are those made by Thai craftsmen from ceramics and leather, wickerwork and lacquer goods, goblets and knives made of bronze, cotton and silk, and, of course, jewelry. If you like parks and picturesque nature, then you should definitely visit the two largest parks in the capital -Lumpini Park and Chatuchak Park. Horse racing enthusiasts will be able to visit
hippodrome, and all fans of Thai boxing are advised to go to a modern stadium. The Bangkok Science Museum is located in the capital of Thailand. This museum is one of the largest and presents expositions of Thai crafts, as well as all the achievements of science and technology.
Many holidays are traditionally celebrated in the capital, for example, the birthday of the king and queen, the swearing-in ceremony on November 10, when all Thais apologize and ask for forgiveness from the Mother River.
